Group Lessons

A Modern, Proven Approach to Learning Music

At Bridgewater School of Music, our group classes for piano and guitar offer the perfect balance of individual attention and social motivation. Designed for students in 3rd to 6th grade, these 60-minute weekly classes combine the best aspects of private lessons with the added benefits of learning alongside peers.

How It Works

Individual Instruction Time

Students wear headphones while practicing independently, and the instructor rotates between them for one-on-one guidance. This setup allows us to personalize instruction in a focused way while maintaining a structured classroom environment. With headphones, the teacher can isolate each student’s playing—just like in a private lesson.

Group Projects & Collaboration

The second half of class brings everyone together for fun, engaging group activities. These may include rhythm games, ensemble playing, songwriting, or performance prep. These group projects build confidence and reinforce musical concepts in a fun, team-oriented way.

Why Group Lessons Work

Individual Progress – Every student moves at their own pace during individual practice with teacher support.

Built-In Motivation – Students are more likely to practice at home when they see their peers progressing too.

Confidence Through Community – Learning with others helps shy or hesitant students feel more comfortable and engaged.

Affordable & Fun – Group lessons provide a more cost-effective way to learn—without sacrificing quality.

Is It Right for My Child?

If your child enjoys a social environment, loves working in groups, or is just starting their musical journey, this is a great fit. Group lessons are especially powerful for beginners and early intermediate students who benefit from structure, encouragement, and peer energy.
